Lead Cognos
Developer/Architect *Must be a citizen or Green card holder*.

contract to hire position)*
Location: Chicago (Must be able to interview in person ASAP!)
Duration: 3-6 plus Month *contract to hire*
*Specific Required Knowledge / Skills*
* Master’s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Science or
equivalent experience
* Minimum of 9 years of IT work experience focused in Cognos development
* Proficient with accessing data in Oracle 10, and 11, TOAD, and
implementing data solutions utilizing SQL; PL/SQL; DB Visualizer for DB2
Z/os; Sql Server Management Studio for SQL Server 2005
* Must have strong SQL writing and programming skills, preferably in Oracle,
DB2 and SQL Server environment. Must have some programming skills in PL/SQL
and ETL
* Support current ETL processes and provide troubleshooting of those
processes.
* Knowledge of data warehouse architectures, concepts and technologies a big
plus.
* Strong Analysis and design of quality technical Cognos, ETL and DB
solutions
* Strong experience in Cognos 8 Framework Manager, Report Studio, Query
Studio, Event Studio (Cognos 8.4 experience preferred).
* Must have demonstrated experience in the creation of complex data models
using framework manager, complex reports, charts, bursting, scheduling and
dashboard style solutions using Cognos 8 Series.
* Must have experience integrating Cognos with one or more of the following:
Oracle, ETL, Websphere, Java w/ various frameworks and libraries
* Ability to write and modify Unix shell scripts and windows batch scripts
* Must have experience with Cognos installation/deployment procedures.
* Experience w/ Rational Unified Process Methodology & Rational Tools
(ClearCase, ClearQuest, RequisitePro, Rational Rose)
* Strong Initiative with good verbal and written communication skills
* Demonstrated experience working within a team environment
* Proven ability to work w/ minimal supervision & adhere to schedules
* Highly desirable for candidate to have prior experience with BCBSA
Inter-plan systems: NRS, BlueGuest, BlueServ, Blue2, BlueExchange, PDR,
LDLA, or BDC.
* Highly desirable to have Familiarity with BCBSA development processes and
methodologies
DELIVERABLES: Cognos architecture solutions, designs, code, unit testing,
integration testing and defect fixes for BX-IPOR, PDR, NRS and BlueServ
software releases
