*Urgent need a Sr. Powerbuilder Developers //Merrimack NH ..// 6+ months
contract.*

Please send resume ASAP to a...@dwlabs.com

*Job Title: Sr. Powerbuilder Developers *
*Location: Merrimack NH *
*Duration: 18 - 24 Months Contract.*
*Rate : DOE.*

*Discription :*
The Desktop Applications development team at PC Connection is looking for
developer experienced in the Sybase (SAP) PowerBuilder 4GL environment to
help support the Company’s legacy CRM/Order-Entry application on a
temporary, medium- to long-term contract basis.

*About the Application:*
CallBack was purchased along with full source code in 1997 and vendor
support ended after a few years.
It has been continuously and extensively customized since then, and has
become a mission-critical tool serving the Company’s most profitable sales
divisions.
CallBack is used by several hundred outbound sales people for Customer
Relationship Management (CRM), Quoting and Ordering. More than $6B in
products and services are quoted to customers per year using this
application.
CallBack follows classic client/server architecture, using datawindows which
directly access tables in an Oracle database.
There are very few server-side components executing in Oracle, no
application-server between client and server, and the business logic is
largely contained within the executable. The application has been integrated
extensively with other enterprise systems, including our ERP system (an
obsolete version of JD Edwards).
Most system-to-system integration is via web services.
There is also integration with other custom PCC applications running at the
desktop as well as Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and Adobe Distiller.
While we are using the most recent version of PowerBuilder (PB 12 Classic),
the 750,000+ lines of code are at various levels of quality and maturity.
Some areas of the codebase have not been touched (other than automated
migration) since they were written by the vendor 15 years ago.
Other features are recent and take advantage of more modern concepts. All
key object types (windows, controls) are inherited from base objects to
enable some global functionality, but no industry-standard framework (such
as PFC) is in use.

*About the position:*
The Desktop Applications team is very small, two developers and one manager.
For the remaining lifecycle of this mission-critical application, we are
looking to increase the pool of resources qualified to work on it, and
mitigate the risk of losing existing resources.
The Company is pursuing a new CRM solution, and existing members of the
Desktop Applications team are expected to be reassigned to the new CRM
implementation team. This position will be expected to help cover support
and ongoing maintenance during this period.
The most likely CRM implementation option has CallBack being replaced in
pieces over a period of years, which will require development and
integration work.
There is also an enterprise-wide MDM (Master Data Management) program which
is likely to require integration work.
This position will be expected to provide primary front-line user support,
as we have found this to be a good way to quickly come up to speed with the
scope of the application.
As such, excellent communication and problem-solving skills are as important
as development skills.

Thanks & Regards,
Adam.
