Location:  Madison, WI
Duration:  10 months   *

*Metadata, Property & Casualty Insurance a MUST*

*Scope of Work:
The scope of this engagement is to assist in the collection of metadata
necessary to support the capture of data from systems of record (SoR) and
its transfer to a data landing area as part of a strategic data project, **ADS
Population - 32980.   *

*Specific activities will include:
Work with QBE America's business and Strategy and Technology personnel to
collect, document and verify data requirements for assigned data project
tasks.
Provide guidance and serve as a resource in the collection of metadata
elements to the Subject Matter Experts associated with each SoR.
Assist the Data Modelers and ETL Developers with specific questions about
SoR data elements relating to the development of the logical and physical
data models for the atomic data store of the data projects.
Use Excel spreadsheets and other tools to record the metadata that will be
transferred to the metadata repository.  This information will include, as
an example, definitions, physical location and layout, ownership,
**application/system
use, and relationships to other data elements.
Coordinate with other Data Analysts in the use and development of metadata
collection processes, tools, guidelines, and best practices.
Assist the Project Managers with the documentation of process steps/tasks
used, developed, or modified while collecting the Metadata.
2 to 5 years experience in data solutions including a combination of data
requirements gathering, data documentation and mapping, data delivery and
data quality assurance. Techniques applied should include some **combination
of direct experience in or exposure to: data processes, data modeling, data
integration, database implementation, ETL development, business intelligence
development, operational data store deployment, **data warehouse deployment
and data mart deployment.
1 to 3 years experience within the property & casualty insurance business
including multiple lines of business/product types, multiple functional
areas and the complete insurance life cycle.
1 to 2 years of business facing interaction related to data or systems
requests that result in the delivery of data-based solutions including
development and deployment of new or unique data extracts, utilizing
business **intelligence tools-techniques for the design and deployment of
data marts supporting enterprise data warehouses and/or new or unique data
processes related to given subject areas such as policy, claim, agent, etc.*

*Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of managing data for applications.
Demonstrated knowledge or exposure to standard concepts, practices, and
procedures within database management.
Demonstrated knowledge of at least one programming language and supporting
tools and techniques.
Demonstrated knowledge of or exposure to a database platform (DB2, MS SQL
Server) and SQL language constructs, stored procedures or similar
techniques.
Experience in or substantial exposure to at least 3 of:  requirements
gathering, data design, ETL development, data modeling, or decision support
systems.
Exposure to data warehousing design principles and associated data
management and delivery requirements.
Experience in gathering database mapping requirements and creating mapping
documents in detail using commercial data modeling software or similar
techniques.
Competent in standard Microsoft tools and standards.
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information to
non-technical personnel both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of and participation in project management. *

*Preferred Qualifications
More than 3 years of Property & Casualty insurance experience in a complex
environment.
Working knowledge of data requirements gathering andmaintaining and
publishing data definitions and business rules within a structured
environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of data solutions and processes delivery to business
units in support of company operations or specific business objectives.
Demonstrated knowledge in data warehousing methods and practices.
