Our client is a New York-based trading and investment firm who manages client and proprietary capital through global macro hedge fund strategies as well as other alternative investment disciplines. Technical Environment Our clients trading applications are built on the Microsoft platform primarily in C#/.NET with Oracle as the relational database. Backend servers are both Windows and Unix (Solaris and Red Hat Linux). Applications are developed using FINCAD Analytics Suite, Infragistics .NET components, integration using Web Methods and messaging via Web Methods. Market Data is primarily Bloomberg through the Desktop API and BPIPE/BPOD. Description The Front Office development and architecture is group looking for a Developer (to be based in our New York City headquarters) with a minimum of 5 years work experience implementing applications in C#/.NET including three years work experience in Institutional Financial Services or on the Buy Side. Educational minimum: Bachelor's Degree. Candidate will be responsible for supporting various groups including Trading, Risk Management, Middle Office and Senior Management. This is a hands-on developer position supporting our clients front office portfolio and risk management system used by all of the clients portfolio managers, traders, risk managers and senior management. This system manages, prices, and calculates risk for a full spectrum of asset classes including Interest Rates (swaps, FRAs, Bonds, futures, indexes, Swaptions,) Credit Products (Credit Default Swaps, Indexes, Options,) FX (including exotic options,) Equities (including baskets, swaps and options,) and Commodities. The system is written in C# (both server and client side) with custom pricing libraries based on FINCAD analytical libraries. The front end is a C#/Win Forms application with a multi-threaded calculation engine and Infragristics GUI components. There are also back-end components that run on Web Methods Integration Servers and Messaging Broker, as well as C# and WCF services. There is a custom-developed market data library which seamlessly allows applications to subscribe to real-time pricing data from a variety of market data sources including Bloomberg Desktop, Data License, BPIPE, and query relational data sources for pricing and reference data. Candidate's responsibilities will include the following: . Develop tactical and strategic business applications to address front office business needs including portfolio management, risk assessment, trade management, market data delivery and integration with existing applications and infrastructure. . Use market data applications and related programming interfaces to provide real-time pricing and analytics. . Work directly with traders in a demanding trading floor environment delivering business tools where accuracy, timeliness and attention to detail are paramount. . Participate in the early morning support rotation. . Participate in the review, recommendation and implementation of third-party products. REQUIRED SKILLS Skills Description Communications . Required . Candidate for CFA Charter Optional Technical . Strong hands-on development skills with experience in developing applications that can be easily supported by others.. Absolute proficiency with best practices for coding C# including mastery of multi-threaded programming and core object-oriented programming concepts.. Ability to design technical solutions based on existing software packages and components as well as rapidly assimilate new technologies and applications. Required . Proficiency in relational databases including sound database design skills. Required . Proficiency with XML design, JAVA, Web Methods or other integration/messaging products. Optional . Software Development Lifecycle skills including source control and configuration management. Preferred Vendor Packages . Bloomberg AIM, Bloomberg Desktop, Bloomberg BPIPE/BPOD.. Proficiency of implementation and support of the MUREX application. Preferred Market Data . Knowledge of the effective use of one or more market data tools including Bloomberg, Reuters, CQG, Bridge and the associated programming APIs. Preferred Business System Planning . Ability to prepare project plans and estimates. Understands the issues affecting the different elements of project planning. Preferred 1 year in NYC, C# Developer for 1 year in NYC.
