Duties and Responsibilities Provide ongoing administration of database systems, including monitoring, proactive maintenance, backup and recovery, and problem resolution (production, development, and QA). Provide technical support of database systems for internal end users. Adhere to technical and procedural standards. Support 7x24 on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis. Support Disaster Recovery Plan both as to preparation and recovery. Requirements and Qualifications 10+ years experience with administration of Oracle database systems including Oracle 9i and 10g. Strong understanding of RDBMS methods and Oracle Best Practices. Highly accomplished skill set for Tuning databases. Expertise with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and RMAN technologies. Prior experience in building database monitoring tools. Experience working in high traffic customer facing SAS environments. Oracle Certified Professional a must. Ability to think logically and analyze application performance problems. Strong performance Tuning skills are a must. Experience in database programming (queries, triggers, and stored procedures). Ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-driven in carrying out regular administrative duties (daily, weekly, monthly DB reviews). Proven competence in using command line interface for Solaris and Linux. Proven ability with writing Shell Scripts. Experience with replication and replication tools such as Golden Gate and Shareplex. Proven experience in database recovery using hot backups and archived logs, and Data Guard. Knowledge of and willingness to work with the existing Oracle Implementation Architecture (OFA). Understanding of data modeling principles. Diligence and attention to detail. Demonstrably effective written and verbal communication skills.
