Job Title:Linux/Hadoop Engineer

Location:NYC or Chicago

Duration:4 months initially

The Linux/Hadoop Engineer will act as a technical member of the TSS
TI Linux/Solaris Server SME (Subject Matter Expert) team. Primary function
will include the installation, configuration and support of HADOOP,
building, configuring and deploying of Redhat Linux Servers.  Duties
include providing Tier 2 server infrastructure production support,
build/deploy services and on-call support to the TSS Ti Line of Business.
SME server support and management duties will include a combination of
systems administration, monitoring and management, process automation,
training and mentoring of more junior staff, support of server remediation
initiatives, support of transition projects and troubleshooting/problem
resolution. Responsible to deployment team performing activities related to
system implementation, upgrades, and installation of applications and
software. Work closely with Application Development; respond to business
requirements and to implement enhancements that will improve the
reliability and performance of the system. SME Platform Engineers will work
a normal workweek with rotational on-call Tier II support responsibilities.

Technical Qualifications

   - Five to Eight years of Linux Redhat systems administration,
   installation configuration and troubleshooting in a Large Enterprise
   Environment preferred.
   - Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade
   administrative tools and utilities.
   - Strong knowledge of Performance tuning, ability to interact with
   partners in troubleshooting and building complex systems is needed. Perform
   periodic performance data gathering reporting to support capacity planning.
   Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource
   optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as
   required.
   - Significant automation experience (scripting) using multiple scripting
   languages is required.
   - Key expertise required in VERITAS Storage Foundations (File System and
   Cluster Management).
   - Strong knowledge of SAN and NAS connectivity to the Server.
   - Knowledge of HP Server Platform preferred.
   - Knowledge of Enterprise Platform Management tools sets preferred.
   Examples, Tivoli, NDM, Control-M and Autosys. Co-ordinate monitoring tool
   initiation (e.g. Tivoli, Insight Manager, etc)
   - Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends,
   sometimes with little advanced notice.
   - Knowledge of Oracle CRS, Oracle ASM/RAC is desired.
   - Knowledge/experience with HADOOP desired/advantageous
   - A degree in Computer Science/related field or comparable experience is
   required.
   - Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
   - Redhat certification though not required is desirable.
