job Description:
A large company in Philadelphia, PA is in need of a Data Modeler/Database
Designer for a 6 month + position.
Senior Database Designer/Modeler is responsible to establish data
architecture, data modeling, data security and data integrity. Own Logical
and Physical Data Models to ensure data integrity and performance.
Collaborate with and guide application developers to optimally design,
develop, test, and optimize performance of new components and services.
Requirements
4 year college degree in Information Systems or Business, or similar.
8+ years database design and development experience in high volume OLTP
environment
Hands on experience with Transactional Data Modeling (OLTP) and
Dimensional / Star Schema Modeling (OLAP)
Expert-level knowledge of relational data models along with
normalization concepts that impact application performance for large
multi-terabyte sized databases.
Experience in architecting high volume, scalable transactional systems
Understanding of business policies that drive data architecture
decisions
Hands on experience establishing data standards and implementing
industry best practices
Awareness of data privacy policies and concepts, including Personally
Identifiable Information (PII)
Solid understanding of databases and the strengths and weaknesses of
platforms and products, with the ability to provide recommendation
Strong SQL Skills in many data sources – SQL Server, Oracle etc
Experience with SQL query optimization and performance tuning,
Experience in SDLC processes, database patterns and development
frameworks
Experience with Big data (Hadoop, NoSQL) is a plus
Knowledge of BI tools is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving skills. Strong work ethic and ability to work
through problems
Self directed and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced
environment under tight deadlines
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
