Python, Ruby or Scala* would be a good second languages, or a functional language like Erlang, LISP, or its ilk. The main point is that they are not a single language / one-trick pony. - They are able to communicate very effectively, understand complex ideas quickly, and solve problems creatively. - They are not dogmatic about how things must be done. They are willing to bend to fit the situation.
