Title: Senior Data Modeler
Location: San Jose, CA
Duration: 12+ months

*JOB DESCRIPTION: *
The "data modeler" needs to be well versed in "ER Modeling" and have a good
understanding of business process.
- Work include: Data Analysis/profiling, reverse engineering of data,
obtain business meaning of data attributes.
- Tools: Data modeling tool (ER/Studio Data Architect or ERwin preferred)

Responsibilities:
- Provide Client with services to create and maintain enhancements to the
Clients Enterprise Logical Data Model and modeling efforts associated with
the Enterprise Reporting and Business Intelligence initiative based on an
Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).
- Data Analysis/profiling, reverse engineering of data, obtain business
meaning of data attributes.

Data Modeling
- Working with EA-Data & Information Architecture team to create Enterprise
Logical Data Model in alignment to modified logical models, with emphasis
to abstracted enterprise level view and normalized logical data model
(detailed).
- Logical data modeling and metadata collection will be captured in
ER/Studio Data Architect in the form of Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD)

EA -Modeling Activities
- Create logical models for EDW with implementation model conforming to 6
layered architecture
- Enhance Enterprise logical data model consisting of enterprise shareable
entities & their relationships, (Normalized ERD). The work product shall
include necessary metadata as defined in the logical modeling standards
- Bookings model enhancements to conform to 6 layered architecture
- Assist and advise, if deemed necessary, on enhancing standards and
propagating the usage of standards across the organization

*EXPERIENCE: *
- 10+ years of overall IT experience
- 5+ years of experience creating detailed Logical Data Models
- 50-80% of the focus is on the data modeling experience, and the details
surrounding that experience.
- DAMA membership or other local groups focused on data modeling is
preferred
- Broad variety of current data modeling tools with different methodologies
(e.g. JAD, workshop facilitation, RUP, IDEF1X, information engineer etc.)
- Must be well versed in Conceptual & Logical Data Modeling (3NF)
- Must have worked with ER/Studio or ERwin data modeling tool
- Well versed with "Enterprise Data Warehouse" Inmon/Kimball hybrid
architecture (CIF)
- Experience with IDEF1X methodology for logical data modeling
- Use of facilitated workshops (JAD sessions) with SMEs (Subject Matter
Experts) to gather information and conduct analysis for Logical Data
Modeling
- Experience with ER/Studio Data Architect or Erwin is desired
- Ability to write simple SQL code for database platforms and ETL platforms
are desirable
- Experience modeling for Data Warehouse and understanding of Data
Warehouse architectures is desirable
- Work experience with Teradata environment and Dimensional Modeling are
plus.

- Models in 3NF normal form, fully attributed, suitable for use in creation
of a separate Physical Data Model especially desirable if for Data
Warehouse
- Experience in other types of Logical Data Modeling is desirable as well,
including Conceptual Data Model, Subject Area Data Model, and Enterprise
Data Model
- Understanding of the overall Software Development Life Cycle and
different development methodologies
- Strong analytical skills in depth experience in the analysis process that
underlies creation of a Logical Data Model
- Determining the meaning of data through the analytical process
- Writing a useful, articulate definition of the data
