*Title:* *QA Test Lead - American Airlines - Dallas, TX - $55/hr - Local candidates only* posted on 2013-09-16 15:21:42 *Job Description:* *QA Test Leader* *$55 per hr* *long term* *Dallas, TX* *Must live in the area* *Responsibilities: • Lead the QA testing efforts in the IT group for new project development as well as ongoing production defect fixes • Create test strategy, test plans and test cases for projects managed through agile development methodology • Provide leadership to non-technical functional testers on a day-to-day basis by assigning testing tasks to them to meet the necessary project timelines and making sure they get completed • Assist in organizing, assigning and managing defect lifecycle • Communicate the ongoing progress of the project testing effort to the business units and other stake holders so that they can plan for UAT and/or integration testing • Manage the status of changes in change management system to make sure at any point in time it reflects accurate information for project managers, developers, testers and business unit • Work with developers and project managers to determine testing strategies for testing J2EE applications from a technical stand-point, in particular web services • Make decisions on what type of testing may need to be incorporated for a particular project or release, depending on the non-functional needs • Provide business unit demos for completed functionalities • Work closely with the business unit testers to make sure their testing needs are met • Manage the changes needed in the functional testing tool by coordinating the requirements with the project managers and developers • Make decisions on what type of test cases need to be added to the automated regression testing tool and make sure they get implemented by coordinating with the project manager • Manage test plans for different applications/projects and maintain them as functional changes are made to the systems • Develop a strong understanding of the projects and domain so that the QA lead can perform hands-on testing to support additional testing needs in the group • Develop a strong understanding of the application environments and technology dependencies to determine impact on testing needs for ongoing effort • Perform tasks needed to facilitate release management • Adapt to the needs of the group to coordinate testing for projects developed onshore as well as offshore. Following skills are a must: • 8-10 Years Education/Experience: • Strong leadership skills, verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, and inter-personal skills • Extremely detail-oriented and organized • Strong at multi-tasking and prioritizing activities to meet the project needs • Excellent background in foundational concepts of testing • Recent experience in creating test strategy, test plan and test cases for large volume applications • 5-7 Years Education/Experience • Hands-on experience testing web services using SOAPUI • Extensive experience testing Java/J2EE based applications • Technical depth to create and run test cases that cover a wide variety of scenarios such as functional, regression, endurance, performance, SLAs etc. • Extensive experience on defect lifecycle management • Good at capturing and documenting the necessary information for test cases • Ability to learn the business logic quickly to interpret requirements and prioritize defects • Ability to lead testers spanning across multiple projects • 2-4 Years Education/Experience • Substantial and recent experience working in agile methodology • Ability to manage testing efforts for projects that are small, medium as well as large in scope • Ability to perform testing across multiple projects Skills that are a plus: • Experience with tools such as Rally, JIRA, Accurev, Fitnesse etc. • Ability to capture and maintain the status of the tasks up-to-date. • Experience with load testing tools • Airline experience • Sabre experience • Comfortable with accessing Oracle using clients (SQL Developer /TOAD/DB Visualizer) and writing queries for testing/troubleshooting purposes • Comfortable with navigating through Linux/Unix environments to access log files and run scripts • Experience in co-coordinating effort across team members who may not be co-located.
