Websphere Engineer
Long term contract
Dallas, TX area
Rate: $55 per hr
Client: American Airlines
This candidate will be a member of Platform Hosting Systems (PHS)
Application Hosting Enterprise service team and will be responsible for
managing Enterprise WAS and tcServer service and its activities that
include building automation framework for delivering WebSphere clusters,
maintaining existing WAS service infrastructure, building infrastructure
for open source Web/App servers like tcServer on VMware platform. The
candidate will also assist with testing and documenting processes for
building new WAS /tcSever clusters. This role also requires research on WAS
and tcServer updates for any new software versions, new OS releases and for
any security vulnerabilities. This individual will work closely with other
PHS shared services, MSPs and customers.
Required Skills: ( MUST possess these required skills to be considered)
4+ years of
• Experience in installing, configuring WebSphere 7.x, 8.x
Experience in WebSphere Application server, Tomcat, Scripting, Monitoring
tools
• Establish, maintain, and monitor connectivity with directory services as
well as web, application and database servers
•Provide good understanding of concepts related to server load balancing,
WAS clustering and other application scaling concepts.
• Senior technician with WebSphere administration and troubleshooting
experience.
• Troubleshoot and resolve middleware issues across development, testing,
and production environments
• Knowledge and experience with the various security components such as
WebSphere security, LDAP, SSL certificates and other third party security
products. Able to review the performance monitoring of the respective
environment, determine opportunities to refine the configuration of a
component and determine new resource / capacity requirements.
• Responsibilities include working with the application teams, other
support team and product vendors to engineer solutions that are scalable, ,
supportable and maintainable
• The individual must be experienced in performing problem diagnostics to
determine the root cause of an issue
• Strong experience in Shell, Jython, PERL scripting
• Develop scripts to automate systems administration and monitoring
activities.
• Experience with open source Web/App servers like Apache, Tomcat, JBoss
• Experience with some UNIX administration.
• Experience with Data caching/Data management
• Strong technical documentation and presentation skills
• Candidate must be a team player who works and communicates well with
technical and non-technical resources.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and possess the
ability to work with limited direction while being highly productive.
• A Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Skills:
• Experience with tcServer – web server/app server
administration/configuration/operation
• Experience with application Director/Blueprints
• Experience with spring insight
• 2+ years of experience in Data caching/Data Management
• Experience with development, troubleshooting and performance tuning JEE
applications
• Experience with installation and configuration of WebSphere Portal 7.x
• Experience with DataPower administration and patch management
• Experience with virtualization technologies
• Experience with vSphere orchestrator
• Experience vFabric Application Director
• Experience with vCloud director
• Experience with vmware vApp services
• Experience with Hyperic
• Experience with Dynatrace
• Some networking experience
• Experience with RHEL, Windows and Solaris
