*Oracle DBA /Design Engineer* *Roseland NJ *
*6+Month* *Phone then Face to Face* The Design Engineer role is to mainly to create designs, create documentation and pass onto engineer team to be implemented. They have to be tremendous communicators as they will be on calls with executives such as VP's from other products teams. They will also be on calls with the Developments managers from the application/products teams. For instance: The product teams will be calling the Design Engineer to address for example capacity issues when adding new clients to the database. The team was responsible for doing the metrics, worked out the numbers. The DE's got on the call and told the developments teams why that couldn't be done. DE's have to be able to speak up to the Dev community. They are the face of the organization of I&O. *Required Skills * • Back up and Recovery, Performance, SQL Tuning, understand the architecture and Golden Gate (plus Active Data guard is very important (they use physical active data guard)) • They should know 11g; understand Lenthilfarm architecture. • They must understand real application cluster. Everything they do is in RAC • Designs and builds relational databases. • Develops strategies for data acquisitions, archive recovery, and implementation of a database. • Cleans and maintains the database by removing and deleting old data. • Someone who can see the big picture • These candidates will not be doing heavy duty work. They will be mostly on calls with clients explaining processes and why they are doing things. For instance if they need to move from Oracle 11g to 12g they will be the ones to be on the call to explain that to the client. • So overall knowledge of Rac, Dataguard but not necessary hands on work. They should know how clustering works but they will not be implementing it.
