Job Description:Technical Writer Job Description
** Verbal communications skills, professionalism, planning experience,
organizational skills and experience with MS Word are most important**

- Need a candidate with experience in gathering information and writing
documentation
- Should have technical writing experience in one of the following areas:
user manuals, documenting systems or programs, training manuals,
operational run books, installation guides, methods and procedures manuals,
and articles about technical subject matter (i.e. products, systems,
facilities) for technical newsletters or magazines.
- Interfaces with users, developers, and trainers or trainees to
update/revise documentation to reflect the most effective and concise
terminology, the best methods and practices, and new software features.

ENVIRONMENT:

Model validation and model risk is one of two hot topics in banking right
now. We are building a framework from the ground-up, and it has gotten a
lot of scrutiny from regulators and board members. Senior management is
very interested.

PROJECT:
We need to do updated procedures for validation and model development. We
have existing procedures that are very dated and don’t match current
environment. We either need to update existing procedures or scrap or
start from scratch.

DUTIES:
Talk to SMEs (Subject Matter Experts- validators) to understand the process
and kind of things they look at for each validation and type of model.
Pull it all together to create a cohesive document that will be the
standard followed for each type of validation.

EXPERIENCE
Somebody who’s written procedures; knows the difference between policy and
procedures; has experience dealing with subject matter experts; knows how
to ask appropriate questions; and can translate information into a
technical document.
**It would be helpful to broadly understand finance or risk but not
necessary.
