Overall Job Purpose
A J2EE Software Developer main responsibilities are to collect and analyze
software requirements, design, develop and support software applications,
both existing and new, by participating in the entire software development
lifecycle, from requirements elicitation through solution deployment and
support.

Key Accountabilities
Participate with business representatives/users and business analysts,
release manager, and/or development manager in the requirements definition
process.
Review and sign-off on completed requirements documents. Under the general
supervision of an Application Developer Lead, Supervisor or Manager
translate business requirements into viable technical architectures,
database schemas, and designs.
Implement the designs (design, code, test, deploy). Support the deployed
applications through debugging, fixing, and maintenance releases.
Understand the current applications and technical architecture and provide
technical and programming support to the developers.
Work with users, contractors, vendors and technical personnel to meet
project milestones. Stay abreast of new technology and methods to optimize
development for the enterprise.
Have understanding of the software development lifecycle and the ability to
implement software following the structured approach and maintenance
activities

Person Specification
Java:
Java, J2EE design patterns, SOA, Spring, Spring Web services, Oracle DB,
SQL, Frameworks (Struts, Stripes, Spring), SOA Webservices (SOAP, REST)
Git/SubVersion

Strong knowledge:
Application servers (Tomcat & Weblogic), JMS

Web:
HTML, CSS, Javascript, YUI, Adobe Photoshop
Experience working in a continuous integration/Deployment environment
Experience working with SONAR, Jenkins
UNIX knowledge

2. Education and Experience
Either – 4 year degree, BS Computer Science or Engineering plus minimum 3-5
years of related experience
Or – Equivalent overall experience typically gained through 10+ year’s
business programming experience.

Display leadership skills such as taking proper responsibility, pursuing
solutions to problems, displaying resourcefulness towards accomplishing
given tasks or goals.
Show an ability to focus on mundane functions of their job, as well as
