*Experience Required:*

8 to 10 years of database experience with Microsoft SQL Server.


Installing and upgrading Microsoft RDBMS software, creating and
administrating SQLServer databases in both single instance and SQLServer
Clustering (active/active and active/passive) environments.

   1. Setup and maintain monitor systems as required by checking system
   resource utilization metrics, analyzing past/present metrics, forecasting
   capacity needs.  Monitor database performance, tuning of the database, sql
   code, and segment sizing for growth.  .
   2. Plan and implement backup/Recovery procedures and process by
   maintaining documentation, job controls, and reporting mechanisms in order
   to ensure consistent successful backups and recoveries.  Perform and train
   other dbas with test scenarios.
   3. Using Microsoft’s SQL Server Management Studio to troubleshoot system
   problems relating to hardware, software and communications, using tools and
   following procedures in order to quickly resolve problems.  Quest Spotlight
   experience preferred, this is the monitoring tool for this project.
   4. Configure, test and setup monitoring of our SQLServer disaster
   recovery solution.  This includes both SQLServer’s Always On and mirroring
   features to our D/R offsite.
   5. Develop testing techniques and criteria following Bureau standards in
   order to substantiate accuracy of software and to avoid impact on system
   availability.
   6. Provide regular reports to management of all database performance
   tuning activities which enable improved performance of existing hardware
   and software.
   7. Design database employing sound industry accepted design strategies
   accepted by the Application Development Bureau.  Interface with system
   users and ANF IT staff, using both verbal and written communications to
   address their need for technical support.
   8. Attend training sessions at internal and external training facilities
   to improve job related skills and abilities.
   9. Process administrative functions following Department and
   APPLICATIONS DEVELOPMENT guidelines so that administrative processes are
   handled smoothly and without violation.
   10. Exchange information with peers and supervisors using both verbal
   and written forms of communications in order to sustain successful
   communications of all work related information.
   11. Write and maintain all forms of documentation for programs/systems
   using proper English, and storing documentation in standard known location
   (Sharepoint) so that it is available and beneficial to other ANF IT staff.
