Title: Business Analyst Location: Austin, TX Duration: 6 months Need minimum 8 years experience. Description: • Assist in the development of configuration management (CM) standards, procedures and plans and implement all configuration management policy and standards in keeping with DPS business requirements. • Ensure that changes to the configuration management methods and processes within DPS are properly approved and communicated. • Interface with process managers and key stakeholders for change, problem, release and asset management processes to ensure a clearly defined methodology for developing an accurate Configuration Management Database (CMDB) is established and maintained. • Identify and maintain the original configuration of requirements, design, and related documentation for both hardware and software. • Plan the population and management of the CMDB along with associated central libraries, tools, common codes and data and ensure the regular housekeeping of the system. • Ensure that CIs are uniquely identified with naming conventions. • Ensure the proper baseline identification of configuration items, perform periodic audits, and provide verification of version release configuration items. • Maintain status accounting records to ensure that current and historical configurations of products can be accurately determined throughout the product life cycle. • Based on configuration audits, ensure that the physical IT inventory is consistent with the CMDB reported inventory and initiate the necessary corrective action. • Create and populate project libraries and maintain project status information and status accounting records and reports. • Responsible for configuration planning and version control integrity for software and non-software baselines and associated quality assurance process audits. • Validate compliance with CM policies and procedures, and report operational and usage metrics on an ongoing basis Provide management reports as required. Required Skills: • Experience in hardware and software asset and configuration management as well as knowledge of IT service management processes. • Experience with FrontRange HEAT, ServiceNow, BMC Atrium, and BMC Remedy ITSM or a similar industry solution. • Familiar with any of the following: discovery products including Microsoft SCCM, BMC Software Asset Management; reconciliation of discovery data in BMC CMDB environment; and integration of discovery solutions with CMDB or a similar industry solution.. • Knowledge of MS SQL, query-writing, reporting tools (ie: Crystal Reports, BIRT, or a similar industry solution) relational databases. • Candidates must have excellent organizational, communication, and problem solving skills. Candidates should have proven understanding of IT business needs and knowledge of IT industry standard best practices. • Experience creating data integration and workflow applications with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to migrate data from disparate data sources into an enterprise data warehouse. Desired Skills: • The ideal candidate will hold ITIL Foundation v3.0 certification and have applied knowledge of real-world environments in both the Service Management focus area and have experience implementing a CMDB in a customer environment.
