Optical Engineer - Immediate closure Location:- Las Gatos, CA Duration:- Long term Rate:- $45/hr (Negotiable) Required Skills ** Strong understanding of linear and nonlinear fiber propagation, 1st and 2nd order PMD ** Strong analytical modeling skills ** Strong simulation skills ** Control algorithm definition ** Strong understanding of practical terrestrial DWDM systems ** Strong understanding of practical issues associated with mixed 10Gbps and 40Gbps DWDM systems ** DWDM system test experience, including straight line and circulating loop configurations, highly preferred ** Statistical data analysis ** Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously ** Must be able to make appropriate approximations, when required, and back up decisions under critical review in a clear and convincing fashion ** Must be a self-starter with the ability to make critical decisions and follow projects through to completion. ** Must be able to effectively convey ideas to other individuals within the company, with and without optical backgrounds. ** Must be able to converse effectively in a group setting regarding technical issues. ** Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. ** Excellent organizational skills required, including data storage and backup.
