Overview:
 Manages and monitors technical projects from initiation through delivery in
order to provide solutions for new and existing Client products. Serves as
a  liaison between technical and non-technical departments in order to
ensure that all targets and requirements are met. Ensures that technical
projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Operates under minimal
supervision managing a variety of IT projects. Reports to the Operations
Program Manager. Requires four to five years of background in technology
with at least three years of project management experience.

Interview process: Possible phone screen first then in-person interview.



Scope:
 Technical Operations project managers are charged with managing both small
short-term implementations as well as large projects that could last a year
or more with multiple sub projects and numerous stakeholders. There are a
total of 5 projects. PM will initially be running with 2 but will ramp up
depending on how time consuming each project turns out to be. There are a
total of about 15+ PM’s onsite. There will be one other that reports to this
same manager. Projects involve large scale SAN migrations and data storage
deployments.



Responsibilities and Duties:
• Set up and manage virtual project teams through collaboration with Tech
Ops managers and resources in order to manage projects.
• Work with internal/external functional units with appropriate
communications in order to gather requirements.
• Approve, or validate, and distribute technical design decisions with input
from stakeholders in an effort to come up with the best solutions for Client
technical implementations.
• Develop project plans and schedules with input from project team members
in order to properly set expectations with stakeholders.
• Manage projects through the full lifecycle using established processes and
tools in accordance with managerial requirements.
• Detect and manage project risks using best practices to inform
stakeholders of the possible project pit falls while working to alleviate
said risks.
• Manage project budgets by influencing decision making while tracking
expenditures in order to stay on a set budget.
• Submit status reports to varying levels of management via established tool
sets and templates in order to inform stakeholders throughout the project.



Measures of Success:
 A project manager is measured on their ability to successfully plan and
execute on projects with the appropriate level communications and problem
solving.  These communications include proper escalations, status reporting,
team building, and vendor management in an effort to get the job done.



Competencies, Qualifications and Experience:
• MUST have Excellent communication skills
• MUST have an Undergraduate university degree or higher
• MUST be a Self motivated/Self starter
• MUST have 3+ years project management experience
• Advanced training in project management (PMP certification preferred)
• 4-5 years technical background (data center technology)
• Preferably have knowledge of EMC Storage and Netapp
• Experience with MS Office suite
• MUST have understanding of data center operations (product operations,
server, storage, network, database mgmt, system mgmt, DR/BCP best practices)
– should have one experience in or more of the following: run a Data Center
operation, managed Data Center moves, and/or have been an Engineer and then
morphed into a PM
• Excellent team building and leadership skills
• Financial experience is only a small plus although find that contractors
with experience at similar clients and are used to the fast paced
environment at the client.
• ITIL Certification is a plus
• NOT looking for SDLC Project Managers



Key  Organizational Relationships:
 A large part of being a project manager within Technology Operations is
communicating with all of the different levels of resources and management
within Client as well as contractors and vendors that Client utilizes.
Project managers are expected to be in touch with their stakeholders at
least weekly and in some instances daily depending upon the project.
