*SENIOR REDHAT LINUX/VMWARE SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR* *Please send rate and contact info with your submission* *Drug test and 7 year background/credit check will be required * Location: *Berwyn** PA* Duration:* **6 Months* Start: *ASAP* Rate: *$50-55 all-inclusive* *SUMMARY:* - *Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) preferred** * - *VMWare Certified Professional is a plus* - This senior professional position is responsible for advanced installation, configuration, and management of Linux operating systems and related toolsets, and supporting complex enterprise-level applications. - The position also requires some on-call off-hours support on a rotational basis with other team members.* * *GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:* - 8+ years experience as a *Linux Systems Administrator* in a client/server environment. - Advanced knowledge of *Red Hat Linux at the Enterprise Level in a High Availability environment.* - Broad and Deep experience as a Systems Administrator working with *VMWare technologies, *specifically in the areas of *VI3, P2V migrations, Vmotion, Storage Vmotion, DRS, and HA* - Experience with *VMWare systems running in an EMC storage environment. * - Experience *building VMware VMs from template. * *SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:* - A solid understanding of the operating system: understands paging and swapping, inter-process communications, devices and what device drivers do, filesystem concepts (inode, clustering, logical partitions), can use performance analysis to tune systems. - A solid understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts. - Understands principles of routing, client/server programming, the design of consistent network-wide filesytem layouts. - Minimum of 2 years experience with VI3 including Virtual Center 2.5 and ESX 3.x - Familiarity with security and hardening of servers and obtaining authorization to operate. - Documentation of Data Center configurations. - Ability to clone VM from template - Strong knowledge and understanding of the VMWare Infrastructure environment - Strong shell and perl scripting skills - Thorough understanding of the TCP/IP Suite (TCP, UDP, IP, ICMP, etc.) as well as the network management protocol, SNMP - Thorough understanding of RPM, rpmbuild and custom package creation and management - Large storage arrays (SAN) - Knowledge of other UNIX operating systems (Solaris, AIX, HP-UX) *IMPORTANT SKILLS:* - Produce thorough and effective technical documentation. - Strong interpersonal and communications skills - Capable of writing proposals or papers, acting as a vendor liaison, making presentations to customers or client audiences or professional peers, and working closely with upper management. - Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes.
