The high-touch portfolio trading technology team is responsible for
developing and maintaining equity portfolio sales trading applications,
basket trading applications, and the middle office systems to support that
trading.
This role focuses on managing, analyzing and developing the Merrill Lynch
global sales trading application. It requires an individual that is able to
work on their own initiative, obtain requirements, prioritize their
workload, analyze problems and fix urgent production issues. It also
requires the individual to have strong interpersonal skills as they will
need to interact with technology groups based locally as well as globally, 1
st line support groups and the business**

*The Candidates responsibilities include:*
· Developing key components of the Portfolio Trading Order
Management System
o Comprehending complex functional requirements.
o Translating functional requirements into technical specifications.
o Creating software components as specified.
o Performing unit tests of software components.
o Documenting technical specifications.
· Understanding of the business process.
o Gaining knowledge of portfolio order management, transaction
management and basic analytics required within the portfolio trading
workflow.
· Transferring of knowledge
o Providing clear feedback regarding specifications.
o Providing insight on implementation methodology.
· Participating in the SDLC
o Ensuring timely delivery of development tasks.
o Ensuring completed tasks meet specification.
o Providing input during technical and architectural meetings and
discussions.
o Establishing regular communication with onshore teams.
o Driving continuous improvement upon the process.
o Adhering to development methodologies and standards.
*Required skill sets include:*
· Business Knowledge:
§ Experience (2+) years in Global Portfolio Sales Trading
Applications.
§ Real-Time Equity Trading technology experience required.
· Technical Skills:
o Object Oriented Design Skills
§ 2+ year hands on experience of design patterns
§ 5+ year on experience of OO Design
o Architecture
§ Experience with systems requiring concurrency.
§ Experience in the usage of industry standard middleware and
messaging software- IBM MqSeries, Tibco RV, Tibco EMS.
o Design
§ Proven track record of utilizing UML design tools.
§ Ability to articulate design concepts.
o Programming
§ Fluent in STL, Excellent Visual C++ Skills Required
§ FIX protocol experience required.
§ Strong knowledge of java
§ Proven experience with Windows, Linux or Unix based operating
system.
§ Working knowledge of SQL.
o Communication
§ Strong written skills.
§ Ability to articulate verbally abstract concepts.
§ Ability to work well in a team.
