Job functions include system engineering, planning, and implementing and maintaining network design in multiple networks and the Internet. Technical environment includes Cisco routers, switches, Checkpoint firewalls on Nokia platform, and Juniper VPN appliance. ** O&M support tasks include monitoring and maintaining network infrastructure hardware/software, and application systems; troubleshooting and resolving system problems and/or outages; creating and maintaining technical documents and work instructions on infrastructure and standard operating procedures; and working with vendor on hardware/software related issues; and researching & reporting security issues within the infrastructure Additional tasks include following general directions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) established for the team in performing all aspects of the job, follow Quality Manage System guidelines to continuously improve the SOPs and WIs. ** ** Position Functions: ** 40% - Infrastructure Planning How the functions are performed: Research network infrastructure technology and design in line with overall architecture in accordance with industry best practices, government regulations and requirements. Architect, design, plan, and execute the implementation in accordance to program mission needs. Recommend strategic direction on hardware, software, and technology ** ** 40% - Operations and Maintenance for system and network infrastructure hardware and software. How the functions are performed: To monitor and maintain system and network infrastructure hardware/software, and application systems. To perform routine system maintenance and/or support application projects during the development, test, and implementation stages of application software releases. To troubleshoot and resolve system problems and/or outages. To create and maintain technical documents and work instructions on infrastructure and standard operating procedures.
