Senior Project Manager Consultant (Inforce Conversion)

Description:
* Responsible for systems analysts and application development activities
through direct and indirect staff.
* Directs development teams in the areas of scheduling, technical direction,
future planning, and standard development practices.
* Meets scheduled milestones to ensure project objectives are met in a
timely manner.
* Possesses in-depth knowledge of principals, theories, practices, and
techniques for managing activities related to planning, managing and
implementing systems analysis and applications development projects.
* Manages one or more cross functional projects of medium to high
complexity.
* Consistently delivers projects on time and within budget, meeting high
quality standards and customer expectations.
* Strong ability to analyze business unit technology needs, dissecting
complex problems and suggesting process oriented solutions.
* Creates project plans and teamwork assignments, identifies resource needs,
directs daily work efforts, and tracks key project milestones.
* Strong ability to track and monitor project execution, regularly updating
project plans and status reports.
* Actively identifies any issues or risks associated with a project,
escalating them and possibly implementing mitigation strategies for risk
prevention and timely resolution.
* May serve as departmental liaison to interdepartmental or interdivisional
project initiatives.
* Negotiates deliverables from initial requirements to final implementation
across multiple business units / functional areas.
* Performs human resource management responsibilities, e.g., hiring,
performance management.
* May manage and/or mentor project management staff.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
* Strong knowledge of Project Management methodologies and tools, resource
management practices, and change management techniques.
* Strong grasp of human resource management techniques.
* Strong communication, analytical, negotiation, and troubleshooting skills.
* Coordinates moderate numbers of staff to manage one or more cross
functional projects of medium to high complexity.
* Serves as back-up for manager.
* Responds to direct questions from IT Management or the business on the
effects of emerging technologies on product development, business process
and direction.

Required education/experience:
* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science,
Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field.
* Project Management Certification preferred.
* 6 to 8 years of IT work experience and project management.
* Excellent understanding of IT and its alignment with business processes.
* Excellent understanding of SDLC.
* Manages multiple projects or workstreams of medium complexity.
* Strong human resource management skills.
