Performs as technical lead on software development projects, documents design decisions, adheres to existing process guidelines, develops software components, mentors developers, supports QA during testing, and has oversight during implementation into production. Job Purpose/ Description: * Develops using the J2EE platform; also required are OOP paradigm skills, as well as experience with J2EE APIs, protocols and development of multi tiered applications. * Examples of current J2EE application program interfaces (APIs) are EJB, JDBC, JMS, JNDI, JTA, etc. * Leads complex / major efforts regarding the requirements analysis, design, development, and testing of computer programs and / or application components. * Strong ability to analyze functional needs that drive the analysis and technical design of quality technical solutions; recommends solutions that are aligned with business / IT strategies and complies with corporate architectural standards. * Serves as subject matter expert (SME) in assigned area. * Resolves complex application and technical problems. * May serve as departmental liaison to interdepartmental or interdivisional project initiatives. * Analyzes complex performance and capacity issues with systems / applications software and/or application components. * Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies. * Provides mentoring and training to more junior staff. * Handles complex operational tasks and recommends processing and technology changes. * Leads evaluations of systems / applications software technologies. * May lead project teams. * Strong ability to work collaboratively with IT staff on development, troubleshooting, and other technical efforts. * Performs software architecture and systems design. Required education/experience: * Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. * 6 to 10 years of IT work experience in systems programming / analysis * Typically experienced across two Information Technology areas or in a single system / applications software development technology across multiple computing platforms. * Practical experience of project management disciplines.
