Must be local to CA as Face to Face interview is there * *Postion : senior C++/Linux/Network Security Engineer * ** *Duration : 6 months +* ** *Location : San Jose CA* Job Description #1: Seeking a senior C++/Linux/Network Security Engineer to contribute to the development of Cisco Security Monitoring Analysis Response System (MARS) product suite for monitoring end-to-end network security on all Cisco devices including Routers, Switches and Security Appliances (PIX, ASA, IPS, etc). This product also monitors other 3rd party’ security products such as Snort, Oracle application, Netscreen IDP, etc. The team provides excellent opportunity for our engineers to master not only basic networking skills but also in-depth network security technologies such as Security Correlation, Mitigation, Firewall and IPS. MARS enables customers to effectively monitor, correlate, detect unsuccessful network security attacks and mitigate successful ones. Members of the team will have ample opportunities to interact with our customers to learn how large enterprises and service providers deploy and use network security solutions. In this role, you will be part of a highly driven, talented and diverse engineering team and a fast-paced environment. Your responsibilities will include: * Sustain and enhance MARS backend components like the Logic System, Inline Reporting, Device Support modules, etc. * Investigate, debug, propose solution and resolve customer cases that are escalated to the BU * Contribute to improving MARS software quality, performance and scalability * Perform thorough unit testing for the features added or defects fixed * Write clear documentation for software design and functional specification Required skills: * Strong hands-on programming experience with C/C++ and STL * Broad-based network security knowledge/experience (Firewall, IDS/IPS, NAC, VA, end-system security, etc.) * Solid experience working with and quickly understanding large bodies of existing code * Commitment to customer success * Strong knowledge of debugging tools – gdb, performance profiling * Knowledge of topology/NAT-aware network security monitoring highly desirable * Be able to learn quickly and adapt to changing requirements and tasks * Be able to work independently * Strong sense of teamwork, be quality-oriented, self-starter, and a team player * Strong oral and written communication skills * Knowledge of scripting languages such as Perl, Python and Expect is a plus BS with 4-6 years or MS with 2-4 years of relevant experience in the areas listed above.
