JOB TITLE: Project Manager/Project Lead – Emerging Technologies LOCATION: Austin Texas
DURATION: 1,400 hours START DATE: April 1, 2010 EXPECTED PAY: $55 per hour *MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/DESCRIPTION: * The Worker will perform advanced technical level work providing direction and guidance in strategic and tactical operations and planning. The Worker will direct activities required for the agency to transfer operational responsibilities from an outsourced data center to an IBM consolidated data center. The Worker will set transformation and consolidation strategy, guides technology planning, sets transformation policies and priorities. The Worker may also plan, assign, and oversee the work of the Transformation team consisting of approximately four full time equivalent positions. More specifically, DFPS will require a project lead to accomplish the following: A. Develop an integrated plan for moving designated IT systems and organizations onto new hardware and software environments. B. Coordinate and track activities among the various vendors, agencies, and customers to ensure timelines and business objectives are met. C. Communicate project status to stakeholders and executive management on a regular basis. D. Ensure business processes are not interrupted during the migration. E. Support the agency's execution of the DCS Service Provider led transformation plans and activities. F. Manage the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of the data center transformation project. G. Work with the delivery team to set overall project scope, plans, priorities, strategies and milestones and track detailed progress. H. Identify issues concerning schedule, service provider, or transformation activities I. Analyze transformation progress to anticipate and avoid potential issues J. Coordinate and monitor agency staff and the service provider's participation in work groups and sub-project teams. K. Document and track status of team activities, issues, and action items. L. Leads team kick-off meetings, technology meetings, major milestone reviews, and project close out meetings according to scope of the project. M. Manage change control and change review processes. N. Prepare and deliver presentations to the DFPS Executives. O. Perform other duties as assigned. WORKER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS * Minimum Requirements:* Years Skills/Experience 8 Experience in the Information Technology industry. 8 Experience working with the project management lifecycle (PMLC) 6 Experience building highly functional software development teams 5 Experience leading IT organizations in data center services initiatives 5 Experience producing and executing Enterprise communication plans 5 Effective manager of teams through use of team meetings, task assignment, mentoring, facilitation and training 5 Experience developing, documenting and executing highly effective project management plans, work plans and quality plans. 5 Success at managing resources in a mixed functional and matrixes project environment 3 Experience implementing Enterprise approaches to data center services. Strong Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong Strong leadership skills and ability to mentor other team members.
