*Location : Los Angeles, CA (F2F must)* *Duration : 6 months contract to hire ( conversion rate $90,000)* *Bill Rate : DOE W-2/1099/C2C ( Greencard/Citizens)* *Job Description – Network Engineer* CCNP preferably with some security experience *Position Title: Network Analyst / Engineer* Description The Network Engineer’s role will be to ensure the stability and integrity of voice, data, video, and wireless network services provided by the network / voice services vendor. Additionally, the network engineer will be involved in the design, build, and implementation of network systems across the enterprise as the environment changes. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all local and wide area network connections, corporate servers, associated software, and communication links. This individual will also troubleshoot network performance issues, as well as analyze network traffic and provide capacity planning solutions. This individual will also be responsible to work with the network / voice service vendor to analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required. Responsibilities *Strategy & Planning*** · Collaborate with management to assess near- and long-term network capacity needs. · Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, IP addressing, router information, processes, and service records. · Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery. · Develop and implement policies for network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory, related documentation, and technical specifications information * * *Acquisition & Deployment* · Design and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, hubs, switches, UPSs, and other hardware. · Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry. · Oversee vendors with regards to new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades. · Plan and implement any improvement, modification, or replacement of network infrastructure components. · Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts. · Develop and implement policies, procedures, and associated training for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery. · Work with management to develop connectivity and uptime service level agreements. * * *Operational Management* · Work with vendors to configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes. · Monitor network performance and work with vendors to troubleshoot problem areas as needed. · Work with desk side support team with the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices. · Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances. · Work with vendor to ensure network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information. · Participate in managing all network security solutions. · Monitor and analyze network performance across the organization’s LANs, WANs, and wireless deployments and provide network performance statistics and reports. · Ensure the stable operation and efficient performance of company networks. · Monitor system capacity to determine its affect on performance and recommend enhancements to meet new or changing network demands. · Identify and work with network vendors to review and resolve network performance bottlenecks. · Assist with other teams to configure, troubleshoot servers, including e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software. · Ensure network and IP connectivity of all workstations, application servers, and back-end office infrastructure. *Formal Education & Certification* · University degree in computer science or electrical engineering and/or 7 years equivalent work experience. * * *Knowledge & Experience* · Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation. · Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices. · Strong, hands-on technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, · Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, Internet standards and network management / analysis tools · Excellent network hardware troubleshooting experience. · Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits. · Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws. · Extensive hands-on technical knowledge of network systems, protocols, and standards such as Ethernet, Token ring, LAN, WAN, frame relay, xDSL, TCP/IP, ATM, T1, 802.11x, and so on. · Experience working in a switched and routed environment. · Hardware, software, and network connection troubleshooting experience. · Working technical knowledge of current network hardware · Skilled at installing/configuring hubs, switches, routers, bridges, etc. · Knowledge of anti-virus software, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other network security measures. * * *Personal Attributes* · Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. · Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required. · Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language. · Highly self motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail. · Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. · Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment. · Strong customer service orientation. · Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
