*Job Description:*
Responsible for the installation, upgrade and support of Oracle databases
and Oracle Applications e-business environments. **
*NATURE & SCOPE:*
* *
This position reports to the Manager of Systems Administration and
communicates with department managers, systems analysts, business analysts,
and systems technical support personnel.**
*Essential Functions*
- Install, upgrade, patch and support multiple Oracle database versions.
- Proactively monitor database systems to ensure high availability,
optimal performance and secure services with no downtime.
- Responsible for implementation and release of database changes as
submitted by the development team.
- Responsible for the support, patching, cloning and day to day
administration of multiple Oracle Applications e-business system
environments.
- Provide technical support for the development, systems administration
and operations support staff during the design, development and
implementation phases of applications and systems.
- Create and modify primary database structure and objects, control user
access and allocate system storage and plan for future
storage requirements within the database system.
Provide assistance in the database server architecture.
- Develop, test, and implement backup and recovery procedures along with
participating in a disaster recovery strategy.
- Stay current on the latest software, features and benefits in the
Oracle database technology field.
*Challenges*
- Requires effective prioritization and management of project due dates
and daily support tasks.
- Communicate effectively with customer contacts for project analysis and
problem solving to efficiently translate and complete project requirements.
- Support of the dynamic database administration needs placed forth
by business.
*Decision Making Latitude*
This position must make decisions concerning the physical and logical
database administration functions, the development of the processing of the
database and computing environments.
*Contacts*
IT management, business analysts, IT analysts, developers and IT technical
support. **
*REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE*
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Technology, Computer Science or related
field.
- Minimum of three years experience in relational database development.
- A background in server based technology with knowledge of data
management techniques and data communications.
*WORKING ENVIRONMENT*
The position is subject to a normal office environment.
