Oracle DBA Dallas, TX 6+ months Responsibilities
Installs, creates and maintains all Oracle databases, including Oracle 10g RAC databases, and database objects for development, testing, staging and production environments. Proactively monitor database performance, analyze performance indicators, recommend and implement improvement actions. Manages and supports various backup and recovery strategies for Oracle databases (e.g. RMAN, Export/import, and Standby databases). Works closely with data modeler, application developers, vendors, System Administrators and auditors to ensure best practices for the physical database design, integrity, performance and securities management. Troubleshoots and resolves database, application and development related problems. Test and deploy staging and production database changes, support application testing activities, and refresh databases as needed. Provides production and development support (SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle development tools and third party products). Keep up learning, research and implement new technologies. May be asked to learn additional RDBMS or additional OS platforms. Provides weekend and off-hours production support as needed. Qualifications Requires 8 years of experience in Oracle database management. Requires Oracle 10g RAC on Linux platform Requires working experience on highly available, transactional database with a large volume data set. Strong development experience in programming SQL, PL/SQL, and shell scripting. Experience with Oracle Grid Control. Experience with NFS will be a plus. Must be able to work independently with general instructions and mentor less experienced team members. Must be able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, and to prioritize tasks effectively. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
