Location: Englewood, Co
Duration: 3-6 months contract
F2F is required
Need local candidates

Spring, Hibernate, Ajax is mandatory

Tapestry is good to have but not mandatory.

Responsible for the development and design of web applications and
components. Design, code, test, and implement web sites and applications,
for either internal or external uses. Troubleshoot and resolve issues
surrounding performance, response times, capacity and system limitations.
Responsible for creating and modifying documentation corresponding to
websites. May collaborate with internal business partners, internal
technology resources (database, system, networking) and with external
vendors. Maintain and update websites and ensure data quality, integrity and
consistency across organization. Requires both front-end (GUI) and back-end
development experience. 3-5 years of prior web development experience is
required.

The application being supported is the new Western Union Point of Sale
system. The application is currently in use in over 2 dozen countries, and
supports 16 languages. The system is a 3-tier system running on Jetty, using
Oracle as the main data store. The application relies heavily on Tapestry,
Hibernate, and Spring technologies, with heavy use of Ajax. Additionally,
test-driven development is used, so experience with that coding technique
and the above listed technologies are required for success.

The WUPOS application is currently deployed, but additional resources are
required to assist in stabilizing the system, troubleshooting current
performance and functionality based issues. Future work will include the
development of additional features and funcionality, such as support for
agents in countries that require special handling.

There are currently 7 other US based senior developers and architectrs
working on the application, as well as a team in Ireland and one in India
working on the application. These individuals will be expected to
collaborate with others as required. While no on-call is anticipated, it may
be necessary to coordinate schedules from time to time to facilitate
cross-border team communications.

The successful candidate will be self-driven to learning - and individual
that is open and challenging, and not afraid to dig in and learn new things.
This position will require a good deal of troubleshooting while learning new
interfaces, terminologies, and techniques.
