Business Objects Job Description
1. The analyst will implement, integrate, support, and administer State
Farm Business Intelligence environments, specifically the IBM Cognos tool
suite. This includes:
a. General vendor product support
b. Testing new releases/fixes/service packs
c. Installing and tuning the product on servers in Windows
d. Coordinating the release and issuance of new products to client
workstations
e. Consulting on projects and other development efforts across
departments
f. Monitoring product performance, troubleshooting, diagnostic, and
system configurations
g. Creating and maintaining installation/configuration documentation
for the vendor product
h. Creating and maintaining disaster recovery plans
i. Handling service calls related to business partner support
j. Working with vendors on root cause analysis
k. Document technical details regarding problems with vender
l. Participates in troubleshooting sessions with Vender Support
analysts
m. Research Cognos problems on vendor support site
n. Work with other support areas within State Farm including -
security, IIS, Database, SAN
o. Providing 3rd level instruction to Offshore Team
2. The analyst will be expected to have the skills and experience needed to
provide product support of our IBM Cognos tools including Report Studio,
Frame Work Manager, PowerPlay, Query Studio and Metric Studio.
3. The analyst must have a balance of customer service and technical skills.
4. The analyst must have written and verbal communication ability to explain
issues and concepts to both technical and non-technical employees.
5. This analyst will communicate with business partners and other support
areas within and outside of the Systems Department and State Farm.
6. This analyst must have working knowledge of State Farm Service
Management Procedures.
