Need: Windows System Admin
Location: Boston, MA.
Duration: 1 year

The Windows Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration,
maintenance, and support of Windows servers. This person will also assist in
the design and enhancements of Windows environments. Strong hands-on Windows
administration and advanced troubleshooting skills are required for this
position.



*New Initiatives:*



   - Review architectural designs and project plans for all new Windows OS
   Initiatives.
   - Adherence to technical policies, standards and best practices set forth
   by Hosting Services and ITD management.
   - Participate in project meetings and communicate results to Hosting
   Services/Management Team.
   - Documentation and presentations of new or upgraded solutions for
   internal team or external projects as required
   - Build Systems according to agreed specifications and/or Statement of
   Work.**

*Support / Operational:*



   - Experience deploying, maintaining, supporting and troubleshooting
   Windows Operating Systems (2000, 2003, 2008).


   - Experience in proactive Monitoring, trending, and base lining abilities
   for Windows systems using tools such as:
      - HP Openview, IBM Director, Windows Server Update Services and
      Symantec Antivirus server
   - Experience with setting, managing and troubleshooting IBM and HP
   hardware including blade technology.
   - Active Directory and DNS knowledge.
   - Microsoft Clustering experience.
   - Experience with Analysis Tools/Commands:
      - Ping, nslookup, netstat, tcpview, netmon, perfmon, Msbaseline
      analyzer, etherreal, tcpdump.
   - Advanced Webserver Deployment, maintenance and troubleshooting:
      - IIS, load balancing, SSL, file replication, caching.
   - System Security/Network Security knowledge:
      - IPSec, ISS, server hardening.
   - Networking concepts:
      - TCPIP, VLANs, Subnets, OSI models.

*Working knowledge and experience with*:

   - Enterprise Class Storage:
      - EMC Symmetrix, CLARiiON, and NAS devices.
   - Networker (Legato) backup client.


   - Database (SQL, Oracle).


   - Evaluate existing environments, recommend, and create optimal
   performance.
   - Provide metrics and monitor systems by use of:
      - HP Openview.
      - IBM Director.
      - Other Monitoring Tools available.
   - Manage Issue-Ticket Queue and resolve issues within SLA guidelines:
      - Lead effort in troubleshooting efforts.
      - Provide options and status to management team.
      - Resolve the issue in an agreed upon timely manner.
   - Relate common Issues and propose enterprise-wide solutions when
   appropriate.
   - Provide infrastructure services to the Windows OS community:
      - Symantic Anti-Virus.
      - Windows Software Update Server.
      - IBM Director.
   - Maintain system Patching Levels to an N-1 level:
      - Firmware/Microcode/BIOS/drivers.
      - Security and other OS related software.
      - Demonstrate success by system/review, vendor support matrix, etc.
   - Create and/or maintain current documentation for environments
   supported.**
