We are seeking a resource as follows:
Title: Application Architect Duration: 4 month contract Location: Downtown Chicago, IL Job# 16814-1 Hourly rate: Competititve market rate The candidate for this position must have a working knowledge of the following monitoring packages: *- System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2** - HP SiteScope ver 11 - CA IntroScope ver 8 and 9 - BMC Performance Managers for Servers (formerly Patrol) a component of BPPM. *Experience in Solaris, AIX, Linux and VMware environments. May occasionally need to work after business hours and weekends for implementations. Perform as a Project Leader when required. Working knowledge includes but is not limited to: -Open and navigate the operators console (all levels up to administration) for the above mentioned applications -Within the monitoring application, identify existing monitors including understanding the target parameters for the monitors, the parameter thresholds for the monitors and notification policies associated with the monitor -Construct new monitors such as Service monitors Database queries looking for specific responses Log file monitors URL interrogations Process monitors Synthetic transaction to measure application response time The ability to construct performance/availability monitors that target the following platforms: UNIX, Microsoft Server, VMs, AIX, linux, Sun The ability to construct performance/availability monitors that target *java, DotNet and Weblogic applications** * The candidate must possess a broad but not necessarily deep working knowledge of the following: Backend functions (databases i.e., Oracle, Sybase,DB2 and SQL Server), middleware (webshpere MQ, BMC Control M) and front end servers (web servers and their underpinnings.) The candidate must possess a working knowledge of SNMP including traps, trap destinations, Community strings, and OID strings. The candidate is required to work with specialized IT application owners to determine their existing monitoring especially with the monitoring applications mentioned above. Additionally, they must work with the application owners to determine new monitoring possibilities and finally construct monitors targeting the new monitoring opportunities. The candidate must be able to lead discussions, record meeting minutes, determine and assign action items and distribute the meeting minutes in a timely manner. The candidate must know how to create and navigate Microsoft Excel spreadsheets After orientation, the candidate must be able to accomplish the assigned work independently.
