*Java & Hadoop Developer* Long Island, NY
12+ months Our client, a major Telecommunications and Entertainment Company, is seeking to engage a Senior Developer who has extensive Core Java experience, along with hands-on Hadoop development skills. In this role, you will be a key contributor in their migration from a MySQL-based data platform to one leveraging Hadoop. This platform processes massive amounts of transaction data and is used to provide management and operational teams with a variety of critical KPIs surrounding network performance, uptime and availability. Requirements: . 7+ years of professional experience focused on Core Java . 5+ years of experience developing and supporting database applications, with at least 2 years of experience with MySQL . At least 1-2 years of hands-on Hadoop development and support experience (prior experience migrating data from MySQL to Hadoop would be a HUGE plus) . Any experience with Perl or Python would be a plus . Any networking experience (SMTP) is a plus . Professional training and/or certification in Hadoop would be a PLUS . Strong understanding of distributed file systems and processing of massive data sets is required . Prior experience involving the implementation of Hadoop is a PLUS . Experience with one or more of the following: HDFS, Hive, Mahout or YARN .
