Sr./Lead Mainframe Developer
6+ months contract
Peoria, IL
*Summary:*
. The main function of a Sr./lead Mainframe Developer is to provide
application and/or team leadership in the development of detailed system
specifications for major
business support and/or development, integration, and
implementation projects.
. This role will work solely on a project to create an interface to
a separate orders application.
*Job Responsibilities:*
. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: detailed
analysis of the existing interface, debugging and issue
resolution/improvement of the existing interface, design and
development of the new interface, and testing and implementation.
. This role will also participate in integrated testing and user
acceptance of application components.
. Will work closely with the project team and the Java developer
working on the non-mainframe portions of this interface.
. Design, code, test, and debug programs of varying levels of
complexity.
. Provide project management, programming, and systems leadership,
guidance, and assistance to other team members.
. Analyze user requests and software requirements for feasibility
of design and potential impact while cognizant of time and cost constraints.
. Perform implementation and integration tasks for medium to large,
complex in-house developed or purchased software solutions.
. Complex application problem identification and resolution,
including off-shift and weekend support functions.
. Assist customers with documentation, training, and usability
efforts.
. Prioritize, manage, and track team workload progress as required.
*Skills:*
. Required Skills: 8+ years with DB2, Cobol, JCL.
. 3-4 years of leadership experience.
. 8-10+ years of Mainframe development experience required.
. Experience in pricing.
. Java development experience/knowledge - highly required.
. Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills,
customer service, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
. Ability to work independently on complex issues.
. Fully knowledgeable of related infrastructure components and/or
operating environment.
. Strong ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as
needed to resolve issue.
. Strong knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from
business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional
specification authoring, to
development, testing and delivery
. High proficiency in a computer software application or
programming language specifically identified in the assignment requirements.
. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent training
required.
