Technical Project Manager McLean, VA 6+ Month Contract Technical Project Manager, Earned Value Management Expert
Responsible for serving as the subject matter expert on project management practices and processes. More importantly, this resource will need to have deep knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) Systems and have led/participated in an implementation of EVM at a client company. This resource will be responsible for designing the processes and procedures as well as delivering training related to industry standard practices pertaining to EVM. This position will create, maintain and deliver an appropriate range of training materials and courses for business processes. Needs firm understanding of both waterfall and Agile project methodologies. Provides resolutions to an extensive range of complicated issues and challenges to adoption of EVM. Solutions provided by this resource will need to be proven, thorough, and practicable. Should be able to works under limited direction and with limited administrative support. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is evaluated upon completion for adequacy in satisfying objectives. Represents the IT-PMO organization and will be required to interact regularly with IT-PMO leadership role as well as senior leadership. This resource will have to support change management on appropriate practice and technical matters requiring coordination across organizational lines. Required Skills: Familiarity with applying project management methodologies Extensive familiarity with implementing processes and procedures around Earned Value Management systems/processes Experience in planning, leading, or executing process-improvement projects including implementing standards, processes and policies for IT project processes Ability to assess organizational obstacles and missing components to implement EVM effectively Capability to build guidance and training for EVM practices Past experience in working with stakeholders to identify requirements to implement EVM in various organizational stakeholders, such as PM Tools and shared services Proven capability to identify, build, and coordinate a wide range of improvements for project managers and track the success of those efforts Experience in designing and administering Project Management skill assessment processes Background in linking strategic recommendations to actionable steps that enable plan execution. Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects and deliverables. Experience with stakeholder management. Excellent communication and facilitation skills Advanced Microsoft office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio). Preferred Skills: Familiar with risk-based control processes; some familiarity with SOX control processes prefer this experience to be in an Agile project environment Ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization effectively. Comfortable briefing key stakeholders on different aspects of assigned initiatives. Solid influencing skills and business/technical acumen. Creative and collaborative problem solving skills.
