VAM SYSTEMS is currently looking for Banner DBA for our Bahrain operations 
with the following skill set and terms and conditions:

 

Skill Set required:

 

Qualifications & Experience Required

 

·        Minimum of 7 years’ experience as Oracle Database Administrator 
delivering high availability database services to multiple cross-functional.

·        Minimum of 5 years’ experience using high availability solutions 
such as Oracle RAC, Service Guard, clustering and BANNER

·        Demonstrated experience working on IT projects that change 
business processes, technologies and organizational culture.

·        Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and be 
customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to customers' 
business needs.

·        Must have excellent documentation skills Page 26 of 47

·        Excellent analytical ability, strong judgment and problem analysis 
techniques with a demonstrated ability to adapt to a rapidly changing 
technology environment

·        Highly motivated to work independently and effectively under 
pressure

·        In-depth knowledge of Oracle 9i/10g with production support 
experience in a multi-database environment.

·        In depth knowledge of Oracle security best practices in relevance 
to higher education industry

·        Knowledge of Oracle 11g

·        Knowledge of Banner Workflow and BDMS.

·        Work with other IT teams to address issues specific to the 
database/application interaction to support functionality and maximum 
performance and to ensure proper backups of all Oracle environments

·        In-depth knowledge of the architecture of an Oracle Database.

·        In-depth knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL including tuning.

·        Knowledge of MySQL.

·        Experience with Linux in a multi-domain environment including 
basic commands and shell scripting.

·        Oracle RMAN, Import/Export (and Datapump), SQL*Loader

·        Oracle performance and tuning skills including server 
configuration and tracing facilities.

·        Oracle Enterprise Manager.

·        Oracle Data Guard, Oracle VMPage 27 of 47

·        Experience is setting up Disaster recovery systems for ERP

·        Good working knowledge of job scheduling and monitoring tools.

·        Good working knowledge of UNIX scripting

·        Capable of doing Banner full cloning.

·        Qualifications in Cisco data centre.

·        Excellent knowledge and exposure on banner database and 
application servers

·        ·The resource should be working closely with the clients operation 
and network team to assess and resolve related matters.

·        ·High level English fluency is essential.

·        ·Arabic is an advantage

 

Requested outcomes (Major Duties & Responsibilities):

 

·        Perform health check-ups of Banner database and propose 
recommendation to the management

·        Experience of other database systems, preferably SQL Server

·        Should be able to assist team in case of technical issues

·        Able to help in migration of Banner Databases

·        Knowledge of Banner Workflow and BDMS.

·        Plan, test, and maintain backup and recovery procedures. Page 24

·        Identify and apply relevant Oracle patches

·        Identify and apply relevant Banner patches

·        Assist team in applying OS patches

·        Capable of assisting team when in need during new projects within 
the ICT team

·        Plan and deliver all required training to BP staff to maintain the 
Banner system. Smooth knowledge transfer and guidance

·        Performs as a senior member of the Database administration team to 
support the installation, optimization, integration, troubleshooting, 
backup, recovery, modification, security, training and upgrading of IT 
systems and components to provide services that enable customers to 
effectively apply IT to business requirements. Has knowledge of tools and 
mechanisms for distributing new or upgraded software to ensure customers 
receive current versions of supported software, as they become available. 
Shall be able to work with other senior staff to recommend and design 
systems architecture and topology from both general and specific 
perspectives.- Train ICT Services Engineers and help in documentation of 
services and processes.

·        Assess in writing policies and Procedures to manage the databases.

·        Documenting database policies and procedures.

·        Perform health checks and database monitoring for existing 
databases and report status to management.

·        Monitor and report threats and risks with existing systems 
(databases) and suggest plan to implement them.

·        Support team in planning and implementing backups Page 25 of 47 
and Disaster Recovery plan.

·        Undertakes regular proactive maintenance of IT related databases.

·        Demonstrate good experience and knowledge of working with EMC SAN, 
Cisco UCS, and Cisco Nexus switches.

·        Upon request, participate in new/existing systems evaluation 
(evaluating systems from Database prospective).

·        Upon request, the resource will be producing reporting related to 
database incidents

·        Implement data security procedures related to banner and Oracle

·        Plan for the disaster recovery related to the banner and related 
application

·        Other services instructed by the ICT Services Director related to 
the qualifications and experiences.

 Terms and conditions: 

 

Joining time frame: 2 weeks (Maximum 1 Month).
