Application Architect Location: Chicago, IL Duration: 6 months Job Description: TOP CRITERIA FOR THIS POSITION: 1) Converged Infrastructure experience (preferably with vBlock implementations, as well as *CI for VDI such as Nutanix, SimpliVity, Flexpod)* *2) Automation of large-scale enterprise utilizing SCCM* *3) vmWare automation suite experience (vCAC, vCO)* *4) Scripting using Powershell*
PROJECT-SPECIFIC DETAILS: Additionally, this position will: • Assist in design and implementation of technical automation • Document procedures and technical details • Cross-train FTEs • Design and implement Windows OS automated provisioning • Assist with understanding changes and operational impacts (patching, maintenance, etc.) • Automation of other infrastructure tasks as assigned ADDITIONAL DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is an engineering role that will help define new processes and procedures that will be transitioned into operational procedures. While a full engineering role the individual also needs to understand the operational impacts of the design and implementation. SOFTWARE / SYSTEMS EXPECTATIONS: • vmWare – Hypervisor management • Windows Server (2008, 2012) – OS being deployed within vmWare guest • Windows 7 • SCCM – Automation/Configuration within OS • vCAC/VCO – Technical orchestration tool across environment • Kickstart/vmWare Template – Methods/models for deployment of OS images HIRING PROCESS: It is expected that a first round technical phone interview would be held. Candidates would then be requested to come on-site for a secondary interview. OTHER: • Hours will be standard business hours to maintain consistency for project. • The project may be extended if deemed beneficial • This is a new effort and being contracted to assist staff in learning new technologies. • The contractor will need to work on site for white boarding and design sessions. • Specific tools and technology experience is required (Powershell, SCCM, vmWare tools). • This position will design and implement the future technology for a large scale organization. Has experience in multiple system environments. Should also be experienced in designing, developing, and test applications. * Combine multiple technologies to provide alternative physical solutions * Performs analysis of business models, logical specifications and/or user requirements to design solutions.
