Location :: Des Moines, IA 6+ Months $55/HR *Sun/Linux Administrator* Type of Position: *Sun/Linux Administrator * Project and Responsibilities DuPont Pioneer would like to engage a Sun/Linux Administrator. The successful candidate will analyze, configure and maintain existing and to be developed integration processes. This person must have a strong understanding and experience with Sun and Linux Administration. The Administrator will: · Perform Sun/Linux OS Installations and upgrades. Customize installation to optimize fit with the overall environment. · Plan and lead migration of existing applications between sites and conversion to other OS platforms. · Work on refreshing Dev/QA/UAT environments on a regular basis per project requirements. Support infrastructure planned maintenance and outages. Optimize effectiveness and efficiency of systems · Participate in defining best practices in administration and data integration along with best practices for developers. · Investigate integration and interface problems. Proactively monitor all Sun servers and related software. Coordinate recovery and problem resolution activities with other IT staff. Requires occasional availability during non-business hours and to be part of the 24x7 on-call rotation. Skills / Experience: Required: · Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience. · Five or more years of experience working with medium or larger operational environments supporting Sun, Linux or UNIX environments. · Five or more years of experience working in the UNIX environments and proficiency in shell scripting. · Strong analytical skills required for timely problem resolution, accurate estimates of resource utilization, disciplined testing skills. · Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, including facilitation and team leadership skills. Strong problem solving skills. Be able to handle multiple tasks concurrently. Willingness to learn new tools and technologies.
