*Position Summary*
The scope of work for the database administrator position covers database
system architecture, implementation, administration, monitoring, tuning,
backup, migration, and support.
*Job Duties and Responsibilities*
Provide 24/7 support for SQL Server database farms with
mission-critical applications
Monitor database systems, services, and jobs for availability and
performance
Oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and other HA
and DR setups
Analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements
Implement and manage data security, auditing, and encryption, etc.
Install and test upgrades and patches
Develop, test, monitor, and tune SQL Server integration services
packages and jobs for data integrations
Create, maintain, and adapt scripts for task automation
Build database schema, tables, procedures and data access objects
such as linked servers
Develop and maintain and enhance database utilities and automated
management jobs
Analyze, consolidate and tune database systems for optimal
efficiency
*Experience*
Backgrounds and knowledge in relational data management
technologies (RDBMS / OLTP / OLAP / BI etc)
8+ years of experiences with MS SQL Server as a DBA and/or
developer in a large, distributed, and complex data environment; other
RDBMS platform experiences a plus
Experiences in database administration including system-wide
performance monitoring and tuning, business continuity planning, capacity
planning, hardware and software upgrade planning and implementation,
utilities, backup and recovery functions.
Experiences with VLDBs and data warehousing, ETL, and BI reporting
experiences a plus
Strong performance monitoring and tuning skill set
*Knowledge, Skills and Abilities*
Proficient in Windows Server 2003/2008/2012, MS SQL 2005/2008/2012
Proficient in multi-platform, multi-server environment support
Excellent problem solving skills
Team player but can work well independently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
Demonstrated ability to meet and manage projects and/or timelines
