*Data Modeler*

*Location:** Washington, D.C.*

*Duration:** contract until 1/16/2015 + possible extension *

*Must Have:*



·         Minimum 6 years of hands-on data modeling expertise for *dimensional
modeling*.

·         Familiar with various process modeling techniques. We expect the
candidate to create conceptual/logical data model, system resource/date
flow diagram, system interface diagram, information context,
Report-interface-conversion-enhancement matrix and system context diagram.

·         Familiar with *Oracle database* constructs and PL/SQL.

·         Concept of *ETL (Informatica preferred)*

·         Experience with *ERWIN (3.5 and 4.1) – min 3 years.*

·

*Non-technical:*

Excellent communication, facilitation and documentation skills.



· Understand and translate business needs into data models supporting
long-term solutions.

· Work with the Application Development team to implement data strategies,
build data flows and develop conceptual data models.

· Create logical and physical data models using best practices to ensure
high data quality and reduced redundancy.

· Optimize and update logical and physical data models to support new and
existing projects.

· Maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models along with
corresponding metadata.

· Develop best practices for standard naming conventions and coding
practices to ensure consistency of data models.

· Recommend opportunities for reuse of data models in new environments.

· Perform reverse engineering of physical data models from databases and
SQL scripts.

· Evaluate data models and physical databases for variances and
discrepancies.

· Validate business data objects for accuracy and completeness.

· Analyze data-related system integration challenges and propose
appropriate solutions.

· Develop data models according to WBG standards.

· Familiar with data warehouse life cycle and dimensional modelling.

· Guide System Analysts, Programmers and others on project limitations and
capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.



*Selection Criteria*



The candidate must possess a clear mastery of IT information system
state-of-the-practice, a proven and well-articulated awareness of
fundamental aspects of business applications and enterprise data store
approaches.  She/he must have a clear understanding and appreciation of the
components and dynamics of an Enterprise Architecture, and the agility
needed to support changing corporate objectives in a dynamic marketplace.
  Moreover, the candidate must exhibit a clear comprehension and
appreciation for the postulates and practice of Data Governance.



· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, MBA or related field and
a minimum of 8 years relevant experience providing IT enabled solutions to
financial institutions.

· Mature understanding of core applications used within the Bank group.

· Must be a seasoned technical expert with a strong business acumen, having
in-depth understanding of the principles and practices of IT, and a strong
track record of  managing, designing  and delivering IT programs for
financial institutions within schedule and budget.
