*1 year+* *MUST BE LOCAL TO MN* Responsibilities: The SQL DBA/Developer will focus on the SQL database environment This role is responsible for providing day-to-day support for the SQL Server activities of the organization. The candidate can expect to interact heavily with all areas of the business. This role will be broad and is expected to change with the business needs. Some of the areas the DBA can expect to support are: Proprietary SQL Server Database Environment Partner with senior finance leadership to plan, manage and monitor new SQL Server Database Environment from concept through implementation. SQL Server Environment will serve as primary Financial Data Warehouse for business needs. Partner with finance team to become SME (subject matter expert) on all facets of company data Perform all facets of database strategy, architecture, engineering, design, implementation, tuning, monitoring & maintenance Create physical database structures to document & help finance team visualize complex database concepts Provide database administration services to projects creating, extending or maintaining databases, data warehouses and data marts Provide effective database planning based on project scheduling and timetables for deliverables Investigate all areas of Finance & Accounting for potential financial system automation & consolidation to increase business efficiency Partner with finance team to understand all reporting technologies & capabilities that will utilize SQL Server Database SQL Database Architect & Maintenance In addition to the primary function of developing & implementing initial SQL environment, SQL DBA can expect to spend significant time maintaining the established environment Maintenance on environment will include building key indexes & maintaining table content on an ongoing basis Table maintenance will seek to expand the capabilities of the original data set. The maintenance will also involve heavy research to ensure accuracy & integrity of table content On an ongoing basis, integrate multiple connection sources with SQL Server Environment, allowing environment to function in an automated & seamless fashion with all data producing systems in & outside of the current companys portfolio Develop, design & establish reporting & query standards to be employed by the financial analyst team when connecting to the SQL Server Environment Coordinates prompt resolutions to departmental inquiries Database Expansion Champion future expansion of initial SQL database & database toolsets to incorporate new technologies & resources as applicable (including future use of Hadoop & other big data software) Main resource for database system & process expertise Serves as educational resource to develop SQL skillset in financial analysts to maximize database usage Other ad hoc projects and analysis as required Requirements: Bachelors degree, preferably in software engineering, MIS or computer science 3-4 years of experience in a DBA role, including direct experience with SQL, SQL tuning, data extraction & modification Proven enterprise database administration experience in SQL Server Good knowledge of LAN/WAN architecture, TCP/IP, Firewall/VLAN configuration, Hardware-Based load balancing, encryption and network security best practices Experience with SQL Server in a VM environment a plus Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server Administration / Active Directory Knowledge of IIS server best practices Experience with backup technologies and strategies oriented around the backup and restoration of large datasets. Efficient at T-SQL and Batch Scripting Rigorous attention to detail, inquisitive personality and passion for knowledge & experience Strong analytical skills, work ethic, independence, problem solving ability and overall positive attitude Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task while under pressure.
