*$40/hr Max (** junior to mid-level Linux role)*. *Job Description:* *This is a junior to mid-level Linux role*. We are looking for at least 2 solid years of Linux experience. This is a long term contract assigment that will last 12-24 months. Please see attached description for more details. Design, monitor and maintain critical business and clinical computer servers and services in a 24 hour a day healthcare environment. May focus on Open Systems (Unix and VMS) or on Windows NT, 2000/2003 servers. Troubleshoot and resolve complex server problems. Recommend and implement machine modifications or additional equipment to increase system capacities. Analyzes results of server monitoring and implements changes to improve performance, processing and utilization. Proposes, maintains and enforces server polices, practices and security procedures. They generally hold a Bachelors Degree in healthcare, computer science or other related field and commonly have 2+ years' experience. Enterprise Research Infrastructure & Services supports the Research IT and informatics needs within Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) and other teaching hospitals of Harvard Medical School. You will be a key member of the team and will have a broad range of responsibilities including: effective server installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of physical, virtual, and HPC cluster hardware and OS's plus related infrastructure including networking. You will specifically be responsible for ensuring system hardware, operating systems, networking and related procedures, adhere to organizational standards, continued automation deployment, follow security guidelines, and provide members of the Partners research community and collaborators with appropriate resources needed for research. You will be a key point of contact for specific Centers. Systems supported include Linux and Windows physical and cloud-based servers, HPC clusters and storage systems. On-Call support is required. *Major Duties:* - Working with the High Performance Technical Computing and cloud computing teams, provide assistance in support/installation/configuration of servers/storage, manage storage space usage, assist with user access, and systems monitoring. - Use automated deployment tools. - Server Administration. - Deployment of systems: work with datacenter team on hardware installations and network provisioning; expansion of private HPC network including running optic fiber, installing and configuring network gear (InfiniBand/Ethernet). - Responsible for tier 1 monitoring of servers/systems: provide break/fix support, setup/installation support, escalation support, and solutions support.
