Working Title: SQL Developer Analyst

Location: Austin, TX

Duration: 10+ months



This Programmer Developer Analyst III contract position will support the
program need to migrate data and map the current table structures including
client demographics, eligibility, benefit issuance, and participation data
stored in SQL 2008 R2 to the replacement vendor.  There are currently three
(3) systems supporting the WIC program that will eventually be transferred
to the new application and supported by the vendor.  The systems are:
EBTWIN Shell Systems, Clinic Systems and Quick Win’s secure portal
functions.  The data in these systems needs to be migrated to the new
system in order to provide services to our participants in a timely manner,
as well as continuing business operations at the state agency. This Data
Migration Specialist will be responsible for analyzing the current method
of data migration from the legacy system to the new system providing
recommendations for processing.



The Data Migration Lead shall perform activities that include, but are not
limited to, the following:



·         Analyzing the method of transforming existing data into a format
for the new environment and the loading of this data into other database
structures and writing applicable programs for the conversion.

·         Reviewing existing migration tools and providing recommendations
for improving performance of the migration process.

·         Providing necessary change and support documentation.

·         Extract and evaluate data.

·         Liaise with Project Managers for any issues or exceptions during
the data migration process.

·         Perform file movement processes- Migrate inbound unstructured
data sets

·         Troubleshoot file migration issues- Troubleshoot issues that may
arise using data migration expertise

·         Perform quality assurance and quality control- Complete QA and QC
activities for unstructured data sets prior to moving them into local data
store

·         Liaise with external entities- Collaborate with external entities
to determine timing of unstructured data sets and complete quality
assurance testing

·         Monitor and improve internal tools- Work internal stakeholders to
improve tools

·         Develop and load metadata- Develop and load metadata for incoming
unstructured data sets

·         Evaluate data content types- Works closely with information
architecture team to evaluate and change data content types where
appropriate

·         Provide data movement training- Creates and maintains training
documentation, provides web based training sessions to data providers on
recurring data movements



*WORKER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS   *

·         Experience in delivery of Data Migration  solutions / projects

·         Proficient in producing complex Data migration strategies and
supporting artifacts including requirements discovery and analysis,
estimation model

·         Ability to do requirement analysis and estimation for Data
Migration / Database conversions

·         Expertise in doing Source and Target database technical
architecture , metadata management , identification of solution
alternatives and assessment , migration plan , implementation strategy

·         Experience in design and developing of the data migration tools

·         Managed conversion of data from legacy to open systems (SQL
Server) using a variety of methods/tools including such as SQL scripts, ETL
tools etc

·         Very strong experience for writing complex SQL scripts and store
procedures

·         Exposure to tools/methods for doing any-to-any migrations.

·         Experience handled performance tuning and optimization projects
related to Database migrations

·         Ability to analyze data, identify trends and develop/optimize
workflow hypothesis.

·         Understanding of data quality, privacy and security issues.

·         Strong communication skills

·         Ability to handle difficult situations

·         Strong process and problem solving skills

·         Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment

·         Demonstrated success in working with cross-functional teams
