The exercise should take them at least a few hours (need to put thought into – understand the problem, draft a design plan, put together a layout and then code --- if they just start coding it will be a mess so coach candidates). *Interview/Hire Process:* - Homework Exercise (Hari will review upon submittal and request interview ASAP – I stressed these peep will be gone if he’s slow) - On-Site Interview (1 and done for 2 hours that will be all about the homework exercise so why doing that well is important, No Phone or Skype options – said it will not work with the interview format) - ASAP to On-Board *Keys & Team Info:* - Hari has 8 direct reports (they range from Java Dev, .Net Dev, Unix/Linux Engineer, etc…) all of which have been learning Dev Ops, but not at the level of the people Barclays had in-house from ThoughtWorks). - He wants these 5 hires to be at the same level as those from Thoughtworks. They will be out soon and he will be left supporting all of the existing technology teams in Cloud Dev Ops so he needs people that can ran ramp up in no time and hit the ground running with little oversight. - Barclays is in the midst of leveraging a Privatized Internal Cloud, which is part of the key initiatives in 2016. This is all open source, open stack, cloud technology so looking for people coming from this type of environment now. He mentioned Cap One being a great example of doing now what they want to get to. - Need to be good communicators – will be interacting with BCUS Technology teams daily so need to ability to independently think and stand up to other folks in technology when challenged. - Will be picky with these hires and the Homework might be a big hurdle with candidates as they move really fast. You will be responsible for the design and automation of our CI/CD stack, cloud infrastructure, monitoring, logging, and for evaluation and evangelizing forward looking processes, tools and technologies that can help us deliver our software faster, more efficient and make our platform nimble, resilient and scalable. Successful candidates will be expert at Linux, Chef, CI/CD stack, building cloud-based/cloud-ready applications and working alongside and mentoring development and operational teams.
