*Database Admin:*
· A fully contributing team member who performs database management
tasks such as meeting user access requirements and resolving their
problems.
· Responsible for ensuring that storage, archiving, backup and
recovery procedures are functioning correctly.
· Writes database documentation, including data standards,
procedures and definitions for the data dictionary with some general
supervision.
· Front-line interaction with users to assist with escalated
trouble-shooting requirements.
*Database High Availability:*
· Knowledge of HA (High Availability - RAC / Cluster / Replication
/ DataGaurd/ Standby / Database Failover strategy Database DR strategy /
Flashback)
· How is it setup and configured What happens during a fail-over
What happens during fail-back? When is it typically done.
· What are the steps a DBA should perform in the event of a
fail-over and fail-ba.
*Database Performance Tuning:*
· Good Knowledge in Performance Tuning (Understanding SQL Server
profiler and performance monitor.
· Understand Performance counters.
· Understanding Query execution plans.
· Handling fragmentation, statistics and index related issues.
· Logical and Physical DB Design) -Planning for Performance in
Database Design.
· Configurations parameter tuning.
*Database Backup and Recovery:*
· Design, Plan and Implement Backup and Recovery Methods
· Developing a backup and recovery strategy
· DB2 UDB Advanced Recovery for Multiple Partition Databases
Identify type of Frequency of Data changes, how quickly the recovery needs
to be done, identify which backup solution to use, storage needs.(RMAN /
Native Tools)
*Infra Storage Administration:*
· Basic knowledge of Storage devices, RAID, Storage device
connectivity, Networked Storage topologies, Storage protocols, Storage
management, File Systems, Data Management, Data backup and Data protection
*SAP IS Retail Consultant*
