The Development team provides core application design, development and support services for all back-office services (Fund Accounting, Pricing Reconciliation, Shareholder Reporting, Tax, Treasury Operations, Transfer Agent Accounting and Control). The team works on technology-based projects in collaboration with other company systems divisions, customers, and custodian banks. The Software Engineer position is based in Westlake, Texas and will provide senior development leadership and guidance on a portfolio of projects aligned with the Fund Operations back-office business functions. *Primary Responsibilities:* · The Java Developer is primarily responsible for ensuring effective, efficient and high quality java development to meet the defined project business objectives. · Possesses strong design and technical skills with deep knowledge of the field's concepts, practices and procedures. · Develop Software Development using JAVA/J2EE technologies. · Participate in the definition of both functional and non-functional requirements of a system and define the development strategy, standards and support tools. · Write source code, adapt existing components, and test the developed components as units · Creating test stubs and test data as necessary · Define and ensure compliance to standards and best practices for development including change management, release management, & source code control. · Able to work under technical leadership/guidance and leverages best practices in design and development from tech leads · Design, develop, and test software applications and systems changes that address business needs supporting technical solutions through the life of the project · Perform data analysis and database development, design and implementation. · Responsible for migrating code deliverables and technical solutions through the development, test and production environments. · Embrace and promote principles of Agile development, Continuous Integration/Delivery, and DevOps · Identify, elevate, monitor and mitigate project risks. · Participant effectively in daily SCRUMs, team and project meetings, calls, etc. in a wide variety of roles ranging from facilitator, to requestor, to solutions coordinator, to consultant. · Fosters teamwork and spirit of collaboration and commitment within the project team. *Education and Experience:* · Bachelor's degree required (preferably Computer Science) · At least 7 years industry experience in a software engineering capacity · At least 2 years of Spring Framework experience (Spring MVC, Spring WebFlow) · 3+ year of Web application development experience in Java/J2EE. · Experienced with SQL and stored procedures. Oracle (PL/SQL) database preferred. · Experience with the following technologies: Spring, iBatis, XML/XSLT, SOAP / REST / Web Services and RAD6 or Eclipse Platform. · Experience managing Networking and Scheduling (Control M) · Experience with UNIX (AIX and Linux preferred) · Experience working on development projects using SCRUM · Experience with JavaScript toolkit (jQuery) · Experience with Java 6 (or higher) is necessary · Experience with iBatis or Hibernate ORM · Oracle RDBMS experience required (Sybase is a plus) · SQL / PLSQL development of stored procedures, triggers & function experience required *SOFT SKILLS:* · Excellent written and verbal communication skills. · Ability to work closely with teammates to solve problems, transfer knowledge, and develop overall product architecture. · Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities. · Commitment to the highest levels of quality and demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness. · Excellent organization and time management skills · Ability to work flexible schedules particularly when software installs are scheduled and Production Support is required · Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision · Ability to work on multiple projects and adhere to scheduled deadlines · Ability to resolve escalated issues with a sense of urgency · Strong attention to detail *Preferences:* · Experience with Sybase a plus · Experience with Jasper Reporting a plus · Experience with Groovy Grails a plus · Experience with Visual C++ a plus · Experience with tcServer is a plus · Experience with financial services domains is a plus *Additional Notes: *Java, Oracle, SQL (PL/SQL) programming, Spring, Web Services, Apache Tomcat, JavaScript, JSP, transaction management and Agile. *Pluses:* Jasper, Groovy, Sybase/Db2, Mainframe or TDD/DevOps experience is a plus.
