The position requires an operations/networking background combined with creative and independent thinking. This includes the ability to analyze complex circuit/networking issues and routing problems, an extensive knowledge in network design and maintenance, and an overall understanding of the IP transport principles. Also required are strong understanding of all emerging technologies and network security policies and standards. The candidates are required to assist Rules Managers with developing automation tools and programming rules to manage daily routines. The position will require technical expertise in AT&T's CBB, DSL, Cable, and OC192 platforms. Candidates applying for these positions will need to possess a very broad technical knowledge and understanding of large scale, WAN networks. An advance understanding of SNMP, MIB structure, OSPF and BGP Routing Protocols, and switching VLAN design and setup are required. Experience with MPLS on an LDP switched network is a must. They must possess the expertise in performing complex assignments and providing support for troubleshooting and maintaining IP networks, concentrating on facilities ranging from T1 to OC192 and Cisco high-end routers and switches (12xxx/75xx/65xx/36xx/29xx). A solid background in digital/SONET facilities provisioning and troubleshooting is also required. A solid understanding of DHCP principles and ability to interface with server management groups supporting IP management is a must. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse team in a 7x24 environment are required. The candidate should have basic UNIX administration skills. A Bachelor's degree is preferred. Equivalent work experience plus experience managing network operations in all the above areas will also be considered. Cisco CCNA certification (or equivalent: Juniper JNCIA,etc.) is also required.
