Position: Unix Consultant Location: Raritan, NJ Duration: 12 + months Start Date: ASAP Rate: Open *Tech skills* · Strong UNIX capability (though not necessary to be a comprehensive sys admin background) · Strong familiarity with BIND running under UNIX · Strong familiarity with all the things that can go wrong when named. conf and zonefile syntax/config errors are made · Basic shell-scripting capability (Kornshell etc) · Has managed internet-facing 'External DNS' services. · Very strong knowledge of DNS, DHCP, Dynamic DNS etc · Strong appreciation of how servers and workstations are configured to use DNS/DHCP · Good appreciation of how WINS and DNS work together for workstations · Very strong trouble-shooting skills · Capable and comfortable to write Work Instructions for the Tier 1 team · Ideally has experience of QIP Enterprise Server *Soft skills* · Strong ability to step back from issues and recommend changes to systems and processes · Capable of coaching and supporting Tier 1 team · Capable of making strong partnership with Tier 3/TED team · Proactive approach, with focus on constant improvement · Capable of dealing with customer issues, solving urgent customer problems, but pushing back when necessary on unreasonable request · Regarding External DNS, capable of partnering with WICO and Corporate Trademark teams and handling pressure from business customers.
