Job Title: Sr. Technical Analyst Location: New York Duration: 6+ months *Locals* *F2F* *Job Description:* Reuters Editorial has embarked on a transformation of its capabilities aimed at significantly enhancing the value of the overall News proposition (Lynx). As part of the product management team within the Lynx program, there is a requirement to produce "Functional Specifications" (which are technical requirements documents) for all aspects of the program (including news planning, messaging, text authoring, content management, and metadata) to assist either an externally selected vendor, or internal development team to develop applications that represent the business requirements. Working directly with product managers, it will be the role of the Technical Analyst to understand the business requirements and then articulate by way of a functional specification the technical requirements of a particular project within the program. * * *Responsibilities:* The successful candidate will be responsible for providing the technical expertise and technical authoring capability for all elements of the Lynx program. This includes Lynx NewsPlanner, Messaging, Text Authoring, Content Management to ensure that the requirements of our 2,400+ journalists globally are properly represented to either our preferred vendor, or our development organization. Specifically, they will be responsible for the following tasks: - Developing a detailed understanding of user workflow and needs. - Developing and agreeing the "use cases" for a particular project within the program by working closely with product managers and development. - Owning and maintaining the Functional Specifications for all elements of the Lynx Program. - Defining and authoring the Functional Specifications needed to deliver against the Lynx Roadmap. - Defining and prioritizing the detailed product requirements for these projects. - Working with Information Architects (data) to assist in defining data modeling, key entities and lifecycles, and ensure consistency between data model and PFS (Product Functional Specifications). - Collaboration with UCD/user experience group to ensure that user design requirements and changes are consistent with PFS. - Ensuring that Functional Specifications are in line with development sprints. - The candidate will be part of a small team who provide product management for the complete set of news production tools. The role will require the successful candidate to work effectively with a wide range of internal groups and external suppliers. *Required Skills:* - Excellent communication skills (spoken and written). - Extensive use of UML (use cases) for producing specification documents. - Good understanding IT technology (for example background in development). - Understanding of Agile development and UCD. - Experience working on large, global projects. - Any knowledge of News production a bonus. *Education Requirements* - College Degree is required *Top required Skills:* - Technology Background especially in Development - Excellent Communication Skills (Verbal and Written) - Extensive use of UML (use cases) for producing specification documents. * * *Years of experience:* 7+ years of experience (Developmental background, technical writing and understanding of User Center Design and agile development process) -- Thanks & Regards.
