Is it Possible to use Biometric Authentication on Oracle 10g As ?

Information in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
Is possible to use biometric authentication, like using a fingerprint reader,
with SSO / OID on Oracle 10g AS to authenticate users.
Solution
Yes this is possible.
One fingerprint vendor, Bio-key International, actually has a product shipping
using these indices and it is proving useful in the identity management market
for better control of user populations (resolving username issues, etc.).
Bio-Key also was the first to integrate to Oracle SSO and has several customers
using fingerprint verification to Oracle Applications.
We have worked with several biometric partners who do use the database and/or
application server.
Besides Bio-key, there is A4Vision (3D facial recognition, we built some
development prototypes with them that they are incorporating into product),
Iridian (the basic technology used in all iris scan solutions who do use Oracle
and RAC), Identix (their biometric platform uses Oracle for storage) Viisage
(facial recognition incorporated into a physical identity management solution
with the former Imaging automation document verification, both use Oracle), and
Cogent (AFIS fingerprint solution). Also, note two companies that attack the
configuration issues involved with biometrics, smartcards, etc. that are also
strong Oracle partners, Daon and Imageware.
